Green Mount (1839) is Baltimore’s first and grandest “rural cemetery”. Many of the city’s past notables are buried there, along with such curiosities as Allen Dulles and John Wilkes Booth. Since the 19th Century, the city has grown up around the grounds such that Green Mount now actually lies close to the urban center. This series simply toys with figurative sculture as theatrical tableau, heavily relying on framing and depth of field to isolate the foreground from the otherwise dense and monotonous surroundings. Original photography took place in April, 2007.
